International Diploma at a glance
The BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis is the industry-recognised certification that truly demonstrates the knowledge, skills and capabilities of an effective Business Analyst. It is designed to offer flexibility to develop skills in the key areas that are relevant to both the individual and the organisation.
To achieve the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis accreditation, candidates must pass four one-hour written examinations on a number of business analysis topics, each of which leads to a certificate which has value in its own right. To convert their set of certificates into the full Diploma, candidates then attend an interview with two BCS examiners to confirm their technical, business and interpersonal competencies.
Business Analysis diploma delegates must attain the following (course modules may be gained in any order):
- Two required courses – Business Analysis Practice and Requirements Engineering
- One knowledge-based course – selected from Foundation in Business Analysis or Commercial Awareness
- One practitioner course – selected from Modelling Business Processes or Benefits Management and Business Acceptance
- Diploma Oral Examination – with option to attend our BCS Business Analysis Oral Examination Preparation Workshop.
Structure of the diploma
That’s four modules and exams in total
The qualifying courses must be taken from the selection above, and consist of two mandatory core courses, one knowledge-based course and one practitioner course. * Candidates holding the IIBA CBAP qualification are exempt from the Certificate in Requirements Engineering and the knowledge-based module.
Oral Exam preparation workshop (recommended) – 1 day
Our Business Analysis Diploma oral preparation workshop prepares you for the oral examination. You’ll have the opportunity to revise the core and specialist modules you’ve taken and prepare for what the examiners might ask you by practising some sample oral questions.
BCS Oral Examination (booked separately) – 50 minutes
Passing the BCS Oral Examination is the final step towards gaining your BCS Diploma in Business Analysis. Two BCS oral examiners will evaluate whether you can put all of the techniques you’ve learned from your certificate modules into an overall context and prove that you’ve gained the analytical and interpersonal skills needed to be awarded the diploma.
